Single Strap or Diamond Back?

Funkita makes several backs in girls sizes and they suit different swimmers. The single strap is the one to pick if she wants freedom across the shoulders and does not like the feeling of fabric panels on her back. The straps are thin and bound, sitting clear of the shoulder blades so nothing pulls or rubs on a long freestyle set.

If she prefers more security and support across the back, the diamond back is the better call. Neither is more or less "serious" — it comes down to what she will actually keep wearing to training.

C-Infinity Fabric

Red Ribbons is made from C-Infinity, Funkita's 100% Italian polyester. It contains no elastane, which is the fibre chlorine breaks down, so the suit resists the bagging and fading that ends most training swimwear inside a season.

Fit and Coverage

Moderate leg height and rear coverage means it stays where it is put through tumble turns and dive starts. This is the practical difference between a training suit and a fashion one-piece: no adjusting on the wall between sets, no riding up off the blocks.

Sizing

Available in girls sizes 8, 10, 12 and 14. Note that Funkita girls sizing is not the same as ladies sizing even where measurements are close — a girls 14 and a ladies 8 have similar chest and hip measurements, but the ladies suit runs roughly 4cm longer in the body and is cut for a more developed figure. If she is between the two ranges, go by torso length rather than by age.

Care

• Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after every session
• Cold hand wash separately with a mild detergent — no machine, no soaking, no bleach
• Dry flat in the shade, never in a dryer or direct sun
• Avoid sitting on rough concrete pool edges, which abrades any swim fabric
